First empirical database of greenhouse gases emissions from the livestock sector in Vietnam
A preliminary study in Ba Vi, a northwest district of Hanoi in 2017, provided indicators of livestock emission factors which could be compared with the estimated emission factors. The study was carried out by scientists from the Institute of Agricultural Environment (IAE), the Vietnam National University of Agriculture and ILRI who presented their findings at a seminar on ‘Greenhouse gases in livestock sector in Vietnam’ at ILRI’s Hanoi office on 19 October 2017. Vietnam partners propose One Health platform to translate research to policy and practice
The platform was initiated at a workshop that reviewed the achievements of a One Health partnership comprising the three organizations. At the 19 November 2017 meeting, ILRI, NIVR and HUPH reviewed One Health research activities in the country and discussed the future of One Health and their partnership modalities.
Research for safer pork products in Vietnam

Workshop identifies challenges, strategies for improving food safety
The workshop “Better Targeting Food Safety Investments in Low and Middle Income Countries,” hosted by the CGIAR Research Program on Agriculture for Nutrition and Health (A4NH) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), brought together policymakers, researchers, donors, and others to delve into the challenges impeding poor people’s access to safe foods throughout the world. Exploring ways of uplifting pig farmers’ livelihoods in northwest Vietnam
On 30 May 2017, the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and the Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) co-hosted a stakeholder workshop in Hanoi, Vietnam. At the workshop, participants discussed research findings from a scoping study on improving pig value chains in the region and the objectives of a new research project which will assess how smallholder farmers in northwest Vietnam can add value to pig production by using maize grains as feed.
