The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), in collaboration with embassies, research institutes and universities in Vietnam will launch a short video report entitled “The remarkable life of Dr Alexandre Yersin (1863-1943)” on 1 March 2022 to inspire young people, especially those in the health research and development sector, to take a One Health approach to address zoonotic diseases in the context of many emerging diseases such as the current COVID-19 pandemic. What is next after CGIAR A4NH in Vietnam: Promoting healthy diets through systematic food system transformation
The CGIAR Research Program on Agriculture for Nutrition and Health (A4NH) is getting ready to wrap up its five-year work in Vietnam and gearing up to more robust One CGIAR initiatives on Protecting human health through a One Health approach (One Health) and Sustainable Healthy Diets through Food System Transformation (SHiFT) Initiative. Through a closing workshop on 25 November 2021, the A4NH managing partners sat down with relevant international and national government partners, and stakeholders to look back at the implementation years of A4NH and discuss how One Health and SHiFT align with existing work and the country’s food system transformation pathway. In late November 2021, the ‘Market-based approach to improving the safety of pork in Vietnam,’ or SafePORK project team and partners held an annual planning meeting in Ninh Binh Province, about 100 kilometres south of Hanoi. The two-day workshop, which was hosted by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Vietnam, reviewed the accomplishments of the project in 2020 and set project goals for 2021 and beyond.
