Art exhibition showcases artist and farmer view of livestock development in Vietnam

About 120 artworks and photos on livestock from the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum and the Livestock-led Interventions towards Equitable Livelihoods and Improved Environment in the Northwest Highlands of Vietnam, otherwise known as the Li-chăn project, will be displayed in an exhibition to be launched virtually and physically in Mai Son District, Son La Province in the Northwest of Vietnam on 12 October 2021. South–South cooperation on pig production: ILRI Vietnam holds study tour for India’s Nagaland officials

Recently, ILRI researchers in Vietnam hosted officials of the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry (V&AH) of the Government of Nagaland, India, in a week-long (12–18 June 2016) study tour of pig production systems in Vietnam.

The goal of the visit was to share learning and experiences of community-level pig breeding and service delivery systems and to learn about the operations of the pig value chain in Vietnam. Developing capacity and South–South cooperation on livestock research: Beijing joint lab hosts three visiting scientists

Three scientists from South Asia are taking part in a six-week research visit at the Joint Laboratory on Livestock and Forage Genetic Resources (JLLFGR) in Beijing, China. This lab is jointly run by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and has been operating since 2004. Continue reading

ILRI stresses need for sustainable use of animal genetics at high-level Southeast Asia agriculture symposium

The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) recently held the 2nd international conference on Agricultural and Rural Development in Southeast Asia (ARD2014) on 12-13 November 2014 in Manila, Philippines. This high-level conference addressed the theme, ‘Strengthening resilience, equity, and integration in ASEAN food and agriculture systems’. Key issues discussed at the meeting were productivity improvement, inclusive value chains, sustainability and poverty reduction, food security and food safety, institutions and governance and regional cooperation and integration. More than 450 representatives from international development agencies, research centres, academic institutions, governments and civil society attended the meeting. Continue reading
